Job description: Excel Personnel Inc. has been retained by our client in Kitimat to recruit their General Manager in the Hospitality Industry.

REPORTING TO: Chief Operating Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively oversee the day to day operations including: guest service, sales, financial accounting, food and beverage services, human resources
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with property owner
  • Provide leadership and coaching to all team members resulting in a results oriented culture
  • Hands-on and engaging leader with effective communication skills and able to motivate a team
  • Maximize room revenue utilizing yield management techniques and resources
  • Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance, determine areas for improvement and implement changes where required
  • Knows key accounts and adapts to a dynamic local environment that can impact business levels both in rooms and food and beverage
  • Plans and shares strategies for sales and marketing with ownership, nimble and able to adapt to changes in the market
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage, able to support the restaurant, bar and kitchen teams both in planning and attracting customers as well as maximizing profitability
  • Creates relationships locally for the benefit of the business and community relations
  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation and execution of financial budgets and results
  • Lead the development of short and long-term financial and operational goals of the property
  • Creates and maintains a social media experience, including response to customer online reviews
  • Manages employee relations including recruiting, training, retention, performance management and safety
  • Protects the hotel and its assets through enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program
  • Establish and maintain Emergency, Fire and Health & Safety and Security policies

EDUCATION:

A university degree in hotel management or a related field with experience in opening, managing or re-positioning a hotel with clear track record. Excellent computer system skills.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 to 5 years of experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager including experience in remote locations. Preference will be given to applicants with food and beverage experience and BC Serving It Right Certification. The successful candidate will work fulltime and be located in Kitimat and may need to work weekends and evenings from time to time, as required. Must be eligible to work in Canada.
