The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is seeking a General Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynaecology, based at BC Women’s Hospital. This position will share in an established practice with Obstetrical privileges at BC Women’s Hospital and Gynaecologic privileges at Vancouver Acute (Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital). This position will provide hospital resources for a 0.5 FTE position at both sites. The incumbent will report to the Site Department Heads of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at BC Women’s Hospital (PHSA) and Vancouver Acute (VCH) for clinical and professional issues.

The Department is seeking a candidate with an outstanding track record in clinical and surgical Obstetrics and Gynaecology. As the successful applicant for this position, you will have certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. The incumbent will report to the Site Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at BC Women’s Hospital. In particular, we are seeking an individual with a strong teaching background and a commitment to education. You will participate in educational programs in collaboration with UBC for teaching undergraduate medical students and post-graduate residents. In addition, continuing medical education for medical and other health care professionals would be expected.

As a clinical faculty member within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and service obligations, at the discretion of the Division Head of General Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition, there is an expectation of personal dedication to the Royal College’s focus on lifelong learning through professional development.

This position is funded by fee for service through the Medical Services Plan of British Columbia, with stipends paid for clinical teaching. There is no direct funding provided through the UBC Department other than payment for eligible clinical teaching activities.
