BC Cancer– Penticton Part-time (0.6 FTE-flexible) Penticton, BC

The Department of Medical Oncology, based in Kelowna, coordinates care for South Okanagan cancer patients in collaboration with the Penticton Regional Hospital Oncology Clinic group. We are looking for a General Practitioner in Oncology to join our well established and collegial team.

Our provincial structure is the key to our success, and we work to achieve expert and safe cancer care, closer to home, throughout our regions. As a GPO in Penticton, you will report to the Head of Medical Oncology, BC Cancer- Kelowna for issues related to patient care, research, teaching and standards of care.

The Penticton Region boasts spectacular beauty and agricultural abundance, with a variety of recreational options, offering the opportunity to ski, play a round of golf, horseback ride and visit a winery all in one day. Surrounded by majestic mountains and refreshing waters, every season holds promise, with activities such as hiking, biking and boating in summer, to skiing, boarding and snowmobiling in winter. The 2,000 hours of sunshine each year will help you enjoy the Southern Interior even more. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and have Canadian certification (FRCP, FRCS or CCFP) at the time of appointment. You must also be suitable for appointment to the University of British Columbia. If you have no prior experience as a GPO, BC Cancer will support your training, involving both didactic virtual teaching, and in-clinic patient-related instruction.

We are looking to replace a long-time colleague, who is retiring, and you would be joining a group of 3 other GPO physicians at Penticton, as well as their supporting and experienced team. The available FTE is 0.6, but with the possibility of some flexibility, depending on interest and other commitments.
