Job description:
- Responsible for the daily management of the fleet operation in Edmonton. Create and post shipping log daily assigning Fork Lift drivers to their daily activities. Ensure all T1 and T2 fleet transport requirements are met.
- Manage Fork Lift drivers (union employees) daily, use coaching and progressive discipline as required to ensure behavioural, performance and safety expectations are met.
- Manage all third-party carrier operations for loads originating in Edmonton. Tasks include load tendering, load follow up to ensure loads are picked up/delivered, monitor and manage performance.
- Support Brewery Operations. Ensure transport requirements are met. Ensure empty bottle requirements are met, and full goods shipments are picked up and delivered where required.
- Continuously manage cost and look for opportunities to improve across entire transport network.
- Expectation of the role is to have a strong understanding of the facility budget, Key Process Indicators and actual performance. This should allow for proactive identification and implementation of cost improvement opportunities. Delivery of overall market unit/total Canada logistics costs.
- Proactively lead and execute the safety and environment programs within all staging facilities to ensure a safe and productive working environment for all employees.
- Shift management of the union/management processes and relationships within the warehouse/staging facilities. This includes playing an active leadership role within the brewery/warehouse operations. Provide coaching, leadership, development and performance management to team members in the staging/warehouse. Building strong working relationships with hourly employees within internal warehouses to deliver defined objectives.
- Active leadership and participation in the Innovation program within the site operations.
Qualifications
- Education: University degree, preferably in Business, Logistics, Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: broad supply chain Logistics background, including direct experience working in the warehouse operations within a unionized workforce. Experience working in a high-volume production environment with the ability to meet deadlines in a highly energized environment.
- Technical Competencies: demonstrate high attention to detail, proven ability to define, implement and execute leading practice processes in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. A proven track record of achievement, solid technical skills and reputation as a leader of change.
- Strong interpersonal capabilities, and able to work cross-functionally throughout the operation. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Excellent computer, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent training and presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written.
- Provide coaching, leadership, development and performance management to the Union staff.
