As a Health Care Aide in Long Term Care, you will provide patient care services as a member of our healthcare team. Our Long Term Care unit is composed of 29 residents & one respite bed with the unit being attached to our Health Care Centre. The county is abundant with lakes & rivers, forests & rolling hills for the outdoor enthusiast. Renowned for the Iron Horse Trail that crosses throughout the region, quadding & sledding are family-friendly activities that spans all seasons. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA) – Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Current healthcare provider BLS with Heart and Stroke. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta. Preferred Qualifications:
Supportive Pathways or any dementia related courses. Non Violent Crisis Intervention. Palliative Care. Nail Care
