Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the MSW will provide social work service across the lifespan. He/she works in a school-based setting at the Duncan MacMillan School twice a week (0.4FTE) in Sheet Harbour, providing assessments and interventions for children, youth and families within a multi-disciplinary and collaborative mental health team. Experience in group work an asset. He/she will also work with Eastern Shore communities for a 0.5FTE (outpatient work), including the catchments of the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, and Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital.

The Social Worker works collaboratively with community resources (HRCE school), tri-facility teams, agencies, and others where indicated.

The Social Worker must have the ability and willingness to work and travel within a wide geographical area as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Current registration with the NSASW
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working in a hospital based Social Work practice is required
  • Experience working with children, adolescents and families or adults in an outpatient Mental Health setting preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of community consultation/liaison experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • NS Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Hours of Work

  • Long Assignment Part-time (90%) Position; 67.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Beginning July 30, 2021 with a expected end date of April 8, 2022

Salary Information

$34.9873 – $45.9942 hourly
