Are you passionate about improving Albertans’ health using a population health approach across the spectrum of injury? Do you want to work collaboratively with internal and external partners to empower individuals and communities to achieve their/the highest possible state of health? If so, you may be the right person to join the Provincial Injury Prevention (PIP) team as a Health Promotion Facilitator (HPF). The HPF works collaboratively to support upstream interventions that empower individuals and communities to increase control over their health. PIP focuses on the primary prevention of domestic violence, suicide, and unintentional injury. Reporting to the manager of PIP the HPF will: Understand and assist with the implementation of key strategies to address the behavioral, social, political, economic, environmental and organizational factors that promote health; Support the PIP team with community engagement approaches that increase community cohesion and provide opportunities for communities to have ownership over outcomes that impact them; Collaborate with stakeholders in program planning, development, implementation, evaluation and improvement; Conduct literature reviews, environmental scans and focus groups related to PIPs core areas of work; Manage projects using standardized tools and techniques; Link individuals/communities to relevant health resources – part of this responsibility is related to PIP’s web-based information. The HPF will: Work with PIP’s Web Lead, Resource Review Lead, Content Leads and other AHS colleagues to develop and post web-content on AHS Insite, AHS external site, and MyHealthAlberta. The HPF will also support the development of other PIP resources as required.

Description:

As a Health Promotion Facilitator I, you will assist communities to be healthier through mentoring, advocacy and education. You will link individuals and/or communities to relevant health resources within the region or province and work with community partners to access, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion strategies. You will participate in special studies and/or research projects and review health-related data and identify trends relative to population health and at risk groups. You will facilitate the development and/or implementation of program specific guidelines in partnership with other stakeholders. You will plan, develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and presentations for staff and communities. You will prepare work plans, budgets and year end reports and provide input for departmental goals and strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field. Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of two year’s relevant health promotion, population public health and/or community-based experience. Experience: Developing materials and training for multiple audiences. This includes identifying the best format and/or technology to convey health information to priority groups; Managing and prioritizing work load and meeting deadlines; Developing and fostering positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to achieve results; Engaging and empowering communities to promote health. Ability to work both independently as a motivated self-starter with a high degree of resourcefulness and independent judgment, and as a collaborative team member. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. Effective conflict resolution skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Skype for Business, and Sharepoint) and Zoom. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and/or training in areas of primary prevention of suicide and domestic violence, and/or the prevention of unintentional injury. Experience writing web content.
