Job description: Robert Half has partnered with a dynamic and forward-thinking organization committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety for their employees. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of our Health & Safety program. This is a hybrid role, offering the opportunity to work from home in addition to 30% travel to company locations including warehouses, office spaces etc.

As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for:

– Providing leadership and integration of the EHS management system to establish and maintain a strong safety culture.

– You will be supporting and visiting locations across Ontario ( majority in the GTA)

– Monitoring trends in leading and lagging indicators, reporting performance to business leaders, and communicating findings effectively.

– Educating, consulting, and influencing management on unique safety requirements impacting their decisions, operations, systems, and procedures.

– Working closely with various levels of leadership to implement and maintain the EHS program, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

– Evaluating, analyzing, and providing suggestions for the improvement of work processes, equipment, productivity, and cost containment.

– Partnering with stakeholders for incident investigations, workplace violence, and harassment investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and corrective actions.

– Supporting the return-to-work program and Environment, Health and Safety audit process.

– Acting as a liaison between operations and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with Canadian OHS legislation.

– Developing best practice guidelines and providing advice and consulting support to Managers and employees on HSE related matters.

– Contributing to the development and testing of emergency plans and supporting the implementation of required Health and Safety training for managers, employees, and contractors.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Health – 5-7 years of progressive Health – In-depth knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation.

– Ability to travel 30% as required for the role.

– Completion of or working toward the CRSP designation is preferred.
