Job description: Overview

Lafarge is recruiting a Non-Union Heavy Duty Mechanics for a permanent position located at our Lafarge Infrastructure Maintenance Facility at 1140 Ellwood Rd SW.

Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for equipment used in all areas of the operation. A high level of safety practices must be used at all times.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

As a Heavy Equipment Technician for Lafarge Canada, you will be responsible for:

• Preventative maintenance service
• General equipment and vehicle repairs
• Maintain paper and electronic records
• Diagnose and repair on-road truck and light vehicle deficiencies
• Maintain fleet and shop equipment
• In field equipment service and repair
• Direct and mentor apprentice mechanic as needed
• Able to perform service calls when needed

Accountabilities

• General safety in and around equipment and operating plant
• Reporting unsafe job sites and procedures
• Maintain a positive image to the customers and the general public
• Ability to plan work and self-direct
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Positive attitude and willing to work within a team environment.

Qualifications

Certification:

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Class 3 license with air brakes endorsement preferred

Safety Responsibilities:

• review SWP and complete FLRAs
• report incidents and near misses
• understand and follow safety rules and policies
• being aware of ERP and roles and responsibilities within
• participation in safety meetings
• participate in investigations if involved in incident
• participation in joint health and safety committee
• complete appropriate permits as required
• be aware of legislative responsibilities
• review audit findings and implement corrective actions identify and address any safety issues encountered

The working environment is indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Must have own tools.
