Course Description: This course examines the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, situated within larger historical frameworks of the nature of precolonial polities, the impact of colonialism, and the crises of postcolonial state building. Through a close examination of primary sources and historical arguments, this course will explore history and memory, violence and trauma, identity and belonging, justice and reconciliation.

Qualifications: Demonstrated effectiveness as an instructor, academic qualifications in the subject, ability to introduce students to a diverse range of approaches, and suitability for the position. Preference will be given to applicants who have taught this course; or a closely related topic, previously.
Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades (including any grading or submission of grades not completed by the end of session: December 31, 2023 for the F session and April 30, 2024 for the S); holding regular office hours; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
