Job title: Human History Education Program Interpreter

Job description: Make history come to life for learners of all ages. Join us as a Human History Education Interpreter and use the stories of Edmonton’s past to create experiences that will last a lifetime. Be part of a team in one of Canada’s largest living history museums and use your skills of teaching, engagement and storytelling to share your passion for history.

As a Human History Education Program Interpreters, you will:

  • Plan and lead a variety of pre-registered educational programs for schools, groups, day camps, birthday parties and courses
  • Lead activities for special events at facilities
  • Assist in program research and development
  • Assist in the delivery of public interpretation services
  • Assist in the maintenance of artifacts and program supplies
  • Work evenings and weekends and conduct other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Experience working with the general public, tour groups, children and other program users
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certificates are required prior to employment
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to lead, organize, instruct and supervise programs
  • Basic knowledge of Western Canadian History
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Successful candidates may be eligible for recall in the 2025 season

Up to 10 temporary, part-time positions for up to 7 months

Hours: Up to 39 hours per week, Sunday – Saturday. Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings and overnights is required. (Note: Hours of work can vary and are based on scheduling and booking of programs)

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Salary: $18.067 – $22.361 (Hourly)
