Human Resources Manager- Abbotsford, BC

Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Human Resources Manager leads and facilitates the development and implementation of effective human resource practices at the Plant to secure and maintain a productive, diverse and engaged workforce. In conjunction with the various business partners, the incumbent supports the plant’s activities to achieve the required operational results, through effective implementation of integrated HR plans, programs, Labour Relations and strategies. This role supports both the Plant and nearby Hatchery.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensures appropriate labour and management staffing levels in accordance within approved budgeted positions are maintained to meet the operational needs of the pant through recruitment and selection processes in adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Initiates and maintains a continuous dialogue with the Plant’s management, bargaining age and employees on change issues and opportunities by regular communication events and follow through on matters of mutual concern.
• Manages employee and labour relations at the plant to enhance the working relationships between the parties.
• Responsible for day to day HR functions such as attendance management, non-occupational absence management, recruiting, management guidance and support through routine actions.

Requirements

• A degree or certificate in Human Resources Management or related field. Minimum five (5) years of relevant HR Management experience with increasingly complex responsibilities.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Labour Relations, such as grievances, arbitration and contract negotiation.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in high volume, fast paced environment.
• Proficient skill in MS Office.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
• Asset: Multilingual with proficiency in Punjabi, Urdu or Hindi.
