Nutrien Information and Digital Solutions (IDS) includes global IT and Digital teams, brought together to lead Nutrien into our digital future.
As the IDS PMO Portfolio Specialist, you will provide thought leadership, oversight, governance, and insight to the IDS PMO and a portfolio of technical projects, as well as leading the IDS PMO Community of Practise (COP).
This is a hands-on role with direct, cross functional engagement across all levels of the organizations and the opportunity to influence value and change.
Reporting directly into the Senior Manager, IDS PMO, you will serve as the primary contact for Portfolio queries and providing guidance related to PMO processes, policies, and financial methodologies.
What you will do:
Projects Financial Management & Reporting
- Coordinate monthly project status report collection from all Project Managers in your portfolio
- Consolidate monthly status report data and analyze for quantitative and qualitative accuracy
- Produce monthly detailed and summary IT Project Portfolio reports for leadership
- Assist with project initiation process – review Project Charters, approve Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests, set up project financials, create new entries in projects database
- Assist with project close-out process – validate closure activities have occurred, confirm financial reconciliation and outstanding invoices, ensure contracts, SOWs and POs are closed as required, perform project accounting and AFE closure
- Coordinate and engage in regular project reviews ensuring all costs incurred and costs to complete are properly reflected
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuing financial forecasts are being updated on a timely basis
- Provide ad hoc support to projects, PMs and IDS leadership, as required
PMO Methodology and Governance
- Support and participate in “PM Community of Practice” that develops project management practitioners and capabilities within the team and extends project management skills throughout the organization
- Support PMO in communicating and driving change
- Support PMO in driving continuous improvement and problem solving
- Execute governance and controls using a cooperative approach, balancing the needs of the project with the needs of the organization
General
- Understand and follow corporate policies and programs, including the Company’s Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education required
- 3-5 years of experience in Project, Program or Portfolio Management
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint and Power BI
- Experience with financial management software (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and financial reporting
- Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification, SCRUM or PRINCE2 an asset (or equivalent training)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem-solving
- Ability to proactively address potential issues
- Collaborative working style and team-player attitude
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
