This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
The IM/IT Innovation Lead provides subject matter expertise and technical oversight on all Research and Innovation “Launch Pad” proof of concept/project work and will be responsible for advising on the technical components related to the implementation of multiple technical platforms/solutions in the healthcare setting. The individual will lead the technical planning and IT approvals processes as well as implementation/evaluation of the proposed solutions in collaborative partnership with other IM/IT resources, and stakeholders (e.g., NSDS).
The IM/IT Innovation Lead works collaboratively with the Research and Innovation team and heath care stakeholders to trial technology based solutions as a part of the “Launch Pad” Program. Delivers clear communication and documentation of clinical innovation initiatives through consultation and analysis of patient care flow and program workflow patterns with clinical specialists and physicians. The IM/IT Innovation Lead reports to the Process and Business Services IM/IT Manager and oversees a multitude of pilot projects, with particular attention to Mental Health and Addictions and Primary Health Care. The IM/IT has dual reporting into the Senior Director, Innovation.
The IM/IT Innovation Lead performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, coordination of resources and stakeholders; managing timelines and milestones; documenting outcomes; monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of activities to the appropriate stakeholders. Additionally, this lead position ensures that all activities within their responsible area are supported by the NSHA IM/IT business plan, established policies/procedures, and in line with service level agreements between NSHA, IWK and the department of health.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in computer science information systems or health related field, plus a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ of experience in supporting clinical applications. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Current registration in a health care discipline (where applicable)
- Masters in a clinical/health care specialty preferred
- Project management and change management certification considered an asset
- Acute understanding of clinical work flows, processes and professional guidelines
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and build strong working relationships with existing team and diverse internal and external stakeholders
Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare technology experience considered an asset
- Experience supporting or leading clinical programs or clinical applications in a health care organizational environment considered an asset
- Knowledge and skills in the areas of IM/IT tools, applications and systems of support
- Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities to other operational units
- Ability to execute through effective delegation, motivation and oversight
- Ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate and manage the work of a major program or function within the department
- Ability to lead and direct software upgrades
- Strong communication skills – written and oral and the ability to present in large groups
- Ability to demonstrate project management, customer service and support skills, and ability to escalate and contribute to resolving issues accordingly
- Competencies in other languages and asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Beginning April 1, 2021 with an expected end date of March 31, 2022

Salary Information
$36.3711- $45.4638 hourly
