This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
The IM/IT Technical Lead for Research and Innovation (Lead) is the interface between NSHA Research and Innovation and IM/IT, Nova Scotia Digital Services (NSDS) and their technology partners. The Lead will be the primary point of contact for Research and Innovation’s leadership and senior stakeholders providing a conduit for their interests and objectives while equally serving as a channel of engagement and communications from IM/IT back to their Research and Innovation stakeholders. The Lead will work with clinical and non-clinical partners to identify initiatives and formulate business cases to achieve their objectives–while maintaining alignment with Clinical IM/IT, NSH, IWK and NSDS architectural and strategic requirements.
Individuals in this role must be able to communicate clearly, negotiate, listen, mitigate conflict, build alliances and achieve desired results using strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills. They work closely with others on tactical issue resolution and strategic direction across departmental boundaries.
Activities could include:
- Serving as the relationship linkage between the Research and Innovation, Clinical IM/IT and Nova Scotia Digital Services (NSHA)
- Proactively serving as a “trusted technology advisor” and functioning as a key point of contact for Research and Innovation
- Acting as an advocate to ensure IT services meet Research and Innovation’s business priorities and needs
- Develop new Research & Innovation technology policies
- Facilitating and serving as a lead for the planning and initiation of efforts to enable the achievement of business objectives through the effective use of technology
- Working with peers to understand breadth of opportunity in an effort to maximize value of IT services delivered to Research and Innovation
- Working with vendors, IM/IT, NSDS and other technology partners to shepherd Research and Innovation initiatives through established IM/IT and NSDS processes
- Collaborate with performance analytics to design efficient data access pathways for researchers
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in an Information Technology, Business Analysis or Health Related discipline. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and relevant experience
- Familiarity with research and innovation operational requirements
- Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in Clinical Application implementation, previous Lead experience preferred
- Experience with Virtual Environments
- Strong knowledge of MS Windows server operating systems
- Strong applied knowledge of IT networks and Cyber Security
- Strong technical process and procedural documentation skills considered an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot and document issues; and implement resolution using best practice knowledge of internal and/or external business issues to improve service
- Certified Health Executive (CHE) and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation is considered an asset
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Project Management Professions (PMO) and/or organizational change management certification is considered an asset
- Ability to execute through effective delegation, motivation and oversight
- Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written communication and influencing skills
- Proficient knowledge of health care industry required; familiarity with clinical and administrative hospital functions and departments preferred
- Competencies in other languages and asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Salary Information
$36.3711- $45.4638 hourly
