About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Health Information Services, the Indexing Clerk (IC) is responsible for ensuring that all patient documentation are prepped, scanned and indexed into the electronic OneContent based on established policies and procedures with the highest level of quality possible. The IC minimizes duplicate records, overlap entries and performs data integrity activities. The IC is also responsible for scheduled chart pulls, processing incoming mail and reconciliation of patient visits as per department policy. Capable of performing all duties identified as Major Responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner ensuring patient information is available for ongoing clinical care within 24 hour processing of discharged visits. The HIS department operates 7 days a week. The responsibilities of this role include lifting up to 20lbs.

Please note, this position will be based out of multiple sites, including the QEII, Dartmouth General Hospital and the Cobequid Community Health Centre.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus one year related experience OR graduate of a recognized one year office, admin, or business course
  • Medical Terminology course considered an asset
  • Experience using OneContent is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Department of Health/Canadian Institute of Health Information requirements an asset
  • Previous Health Care experience of preferred
  • Proven ability to organize workload independently, meet timelines and deadlines
  • Knowledge of various computer software programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, other professionals, patients and families
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to function independently as well as a team member
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French

Hours

  • Permanent Part-time position; 50%, 35 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, evenings, nights and weekends

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 – $21.91 Hourly
