Job description: Indigenous Education Policy Analyst (3-month CONTRACT, Work from Home)

Start working in the new year! We are looking for someone with experience in government and public sector policy development. This work at home position requires someone with detailed knowledge and experience in education and post-secondary institutions. If you have a firm understanding of Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) issues, values, and traditions, then our client wants to hear from you.

This exciting position is responsible for developing corporate policy, conducting research and providing support for senior staff. Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in conducting research and summarizing findings. To be our successful candidate, you must be organized, well-written, detail orientated and have previous experience in developing presentations and briefing materials.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, or another relevant discipline
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in policy development
  • Knowledge of government and public sector policy development and research
  • Knowledge of Ontario provincial post-secondary education landscape, and Ontario Indigenous Institutes Act
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Extensive experience in research, both qualitative and quantitative
  • Exceptional ability to build and foster relationships with external policy stakeholders
  • Must have strong oral communication, public speaking skills
  • A strong understanding of Indigenous culture (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis).
  • You are confident in using OfficeSuite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Designated space within the home to work from, with access to a computer and printer
  • If you have experience working in or with the Indigenous community, we’d love to hear about it, as this is a MUST for the role.
