IT Software Engineer

Position Description

We are seeking a full-time employee with an educational background in Computer Science or Software Engineer to work as part of a high performing team responsible for the support of our Manufacturing Execution System (MES). These systems are essential to the operation of our industry leading world class manufacturing processes and are part of one of the largest integrated IT environments in Canada. Our employees have opportunities to work with various technologies within a continuous improvement culture. We are looking for an individual with a problem-solving mindset who has a desire to be part of this essential team.

This position will involve working in one or more of the following subject areas:

• Production Tracking
• Production Line Sequencing
• Quality Management

In performing this role, you will be required to:

• Design, develop and deliver systems based on user requirements
• Create, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL solutions
• Configure and improve the MES software solution implemented at Dofasco.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts from Dofasco and the vendor.

Qualifications

University Bachelor degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology.

Skills and Experience

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Initiative and drive
• SQL developer experience required with a preference for Oracle PL/SQL.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Java and Crystal Reports experience an asset.
• A good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn and develop new skills.
• Data Analytics experience an asset.

Working Conditions:

Office environment.

Hours of Work:

Days, Monday to Friday, with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads, paid off-hour system support, flexible work options.
