Job Description: The candidate for this position will be responsible for the online asynchronous delivery of the How to Start your Own Business course in the Subject Area: Business, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Program. Course curriculum and textbook available. Course starts January 24, 2024, therefore; applicants must be available this date.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Instructor is responsible for the delivery and student evaluation of the assigned course as described in the course outline. Instructors are responsible for the course learning outcomes, that reflect the integrated nature of the curriculum.
Key responsibilties
- Utilize Langara Management System (Brightspace) for online delivery platform
- Build course into online learning platform
- Delivers the curriculum in accordance with the course outline
- Maintains a comprehensive and current knowledge of assigned subject areas
- Administers the Course Evaluation Form by the students according to stated procedures
- Submits reports and records, including final grade breakdown, and attendance registers on time and in accordance with prescribed procedures
- Input final grades into Langara’s student management system
- Sets and models a high standard of professional behaviour and appropriate appearance
- Monitors student performance and provides construction feedback to students throughout the duration of the learning process
- Evaluates students performance
Qualifications Required
- Experience with asynchronous online teaching course delivery
- MBA or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- 10+ years of recent Canadian business management experience
- 15+ demonstrated instructional ability in the subject matter
- Adult Education Training
- Experience in developing course curriculum
Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to develop and implement new strategies, policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and apply College, government, agency, and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility.
- Ability to use tact and discretion to deal with or settle complex requests or complaints.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people who have limited English language proficiency.
Salary: Hourly wage $52.80
Scheduling: Course scheduling may vary from term to term.
Salary Range: $0.00 – $0.00 per hour
Pay Grade: CS Instructional
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0.35
Hours may vary according to the needs of the department.
