Summary:

An opportunity exists for an Intern position in our IT Service Management team, based at our Calgary Head Office. This position will assist with the deployment and support of various project initiatives. The incumbent must be a customer-focused individual who is comfortable and willing to engage the business and leaders within IT. Excellent analysis skills are essential, and knowledge of ITIL is beneficial. This position is a 2-year temporary contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in various projects assignments, preparing and completing tasks or analyses on a range of Service Management initiatives
  • Perform audits, cleanup, warranty verification and information entry in our Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
  • Develop and organize knowledge articles supporting ServiceNow incident management
  • Update Services in TransAlta’s service catalog
  • Work closely with business units to model current and future state of business process utilizing TransAlta’s standard process modeling methodology

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree, with a major in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Communications disciplines
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel
  • A broad understanding of the IT infrastructure that supports the business
  • A detail-oriented individual who can bring enthusiasm and innovation to project teams
  • Willingness to work co-operatively with others to achieve team goals and objectives
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in both a team environment and with minimal supervision
