At $100 million, the TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good is one of Canada’s largest corporate impact funds, and will focus its investment on for-profit companies and founders committed to driving social innovation. The TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good’s primary focus will be on Seed and Series A stage financing, with either equity, debt, or flexible financing based on the company’s needs for growth.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

As part of the TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good, you will have the opportunity to invest in the next generation of socially innovative businesses. As an Investment Director, you will work with the team to develop and refine the investment theses based on the Fund’s strategy. You will lead the full lifecycle of investment deal activities, from identifying and sourcing potential investments, through due diligence and deal execution, all through a dual-lens of profit and impact. Additionally, you will support portfolio companies post-investment as necessary to help them scale their impact.

Here’s how

  • Create original investment theses based on the Fund’s strategy and areas of focus and surface opportunities to drive impact alignment and financial returns
  • Leverage your strong relationships with an existing network of impact investors and entrepreneurs to source new investment opportunities
  • Leverage your experience as an investment or transactional lead to manage the end to end transaction of deals from sourcing through due diligence to deal execution and closing
  • Develop financial models for the evaluation of investment opportunities
  • Proactively manage the portfolio of investee companies through tracking of financial and impact KPIs
  • Provide quarterly updates from across the portfolio, flagging any potential risks/issues and opportunities
  • Stay up to date on current trends in social innovation and technology, piecing together the informational mosaic for potential investment targets
  • Identify and assess follow-on / secondary opportunities and exit opportunities

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in leading transactions in private company investments and/or deal execution management, preferably in the venture capital, investment banking, telecommunications and/or technology industries
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (with experience interacting with senior leaders in both large and small organizations)
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills including the ability to collaborate effectively in situations without formal influence & across geographies
  • Experience in technical, financial and management evaluation as part of investment due diligence
  • MBA degree and/or a CFA or CPA designation(s) would be highly desirable

  • Entrepreneurial spirit which will drive passionate ownership, process improvement and responsibility for the portfolio of investments
