The Candidate: We’re looking for an IT Business Analyst to play a key role in our ERP upgrade as well as our edge applications which have become business critical functions.
As part of the Emco Information Technology team, the Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in understanding our business, assessing our needs, and leading the company through technical evolution and implementations.
The Business Analyst will gather and document user requirements (vs nice to have), and will work with the appropriate technical resource to deliver approved solutions. The Business Analyst will be the bridge between the business user and the technology team. Where warranted, the Business Analyst will work with external technology providers, and will lead the project through to implementation. This technically minded individual will research functionality in order to recommend solutions to meet the business requirements. They will become the subject matter expert and will provide evaluation, configuration, and implementation of the right solutions for our business.
As part of their role, they will need to understand the basics of our legacy ERP, SXe, while developing and maintaining comprehensive understanding of the capabilities of our new ERP, M3 Cloud Edition.
Position Summary:
- Work with end customers and teammates in the field to understand how to enable our business in support of customer service and supplier requirements
- Serve as a bridge between technology and non-technical end users while effectively communicating with both groups
- Evaluate and experiment with new systems and platforms to drive disruptive innovation at Emco
- Own the configuration and documentation for technology platforms where appropriate
- Serve as the subject matter expert on projects in order to roll out new solutions or provide additional functionality to existing platforms
- Document business requirements, process flows, and user test cases
- Coordinate user acceptance testing followed by implementation
- Manage Jira cases. Assigning appropriate responsibility. Review and work with the team to improve accuracy of estimates and delivery dates
- Manage communications and updates to the business leads involved in any initiative from start to completion, including post implementation review
Position Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent
- Prior experience as a business and/or technical analyst
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Fearlessness in tackling new and exciting opportunities
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively both alone and as part of a team
- Willing to push the envelope and experiment with new technologies to positively disrupt the way we do business
- Have a strong sense of ownership and a need to be challenged
- Experience with Jira or other project management tools
- Ability to communicate verbally and written in both English and French would be an asset
- Prior experience in a wholesale distribution company would be an asset
This position will report to the IT Manager, Systems Development and Integrations.
