The Technical Systems Specialist reports directly to the Director, IT, Infrastructure and Operations.
Your main tasks will be …
- Works with IT management and other departments to implement a successful IT plan.
- Lends a helping hand with the implementation of the IT plan and trains the people who will use it.
- Acts as local coordinator of IT projects.
- Works closely with the plant and general IT department and maintains communication between them.
- Follows various guidelines to assess IT systems and determine where changes need to be made.
- Assists with budgeting for IT expenses, including purchasing new equipment and software if needed.
- Diagnoses problems when computers or other technology are not working as they should.
- Lend a helping hand with maintenance of computers and other forms of technology.
- Trains other IT professionals and assigns projects as needed.
- Develop strong relationships with equipment manufacturers and service providers to resolve issues faster.
- Prepares regular reports for IT management; attend meetings to present these results.
- Guides employees in defining existing business processes to ensure that operational system requirements align with those processes, including recommendations for improvement and documentation.
- Leads and coordinates the training of the trainer and end users.
- Defines and documents operational system requirements, including interfaces between non-SAP systems used locally and SAP.
- Evaluates and implements (if possible) requests for new functionality in areas of responsibility.
- Fosters a customer-centric culture – doing what is right to solve customer problems.
- Accepts and acts on customer feedback to improve the products and services we provide.
- Is attentive to all customer requests in order to build confidence in our support capabilities.
- Possesses a great sense of professionalism, knows how to demonstrate diplomacy and leadership, and is able to think outside the box.
- Has strong problem solving skills and is able to work effectively at a technical level.
- Has a proven ability to track and manage issues until they are completely resolved (regardless of who is responsible for the issue) and is committed to bringing the issue to fruition.
- Has excellent attention to detail combined with a keen sense of discovery and investigation.
- Is able to work well in a positive team environment, with mentoring skills and a willingness to share knowledge and help educate others in a positive and supportive manner.
- Is able to organize and present data in a clear and concise manner. Ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at different levels of the organization, including management and senior management.
- Has in-depth knowledge of data flow, logging awareness, interpretation, methodology and systematic troubleshooting.
- Has a strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced, fast-paced environment.
- Knows how to identify and recommend actions to streamline operational processes and eliminate redundant or obsolete procedures and processes
You have the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a technology related discipline OR a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of prior experience in supporting clients (in a technical support environment).
- More than five (5) years of experience in various IT disciplines in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced level knowledge and practical experience:
o Windows 2012 and higher servers;
o Windows 10;
o Office / Microsoft 365;
o Microsoft SQL Server.
- Good working knowledge of local area network, server, and operating systems and databases.
- Experience in the field of SAP is an asset.
- An ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing is essential.
- A lot of interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Projects and MS Teams.
