Job description: The Field Technician is responsible for travelling to clients’ offices and working on issues that require a physical presence. They are also responsible for communicating with end users and site contacts as necessary to keep everyone up to date.

Location: Can be based out of Comox, Courtenay, Parksville, Nanaimo, or surrounding area.
Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm PST.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow “The CompuVision Way”. This is our set of standards and processes that produce a predictable end result for the customer. You must be aware of and maintain our standards.
- Have full-time access to a vehicle and maintain business-class insurance.
- Drive to clients’ offices as required by remote staff.
- Maintain close adherence to their schedule and inform the Service Team Lead if they are unable to be at their scheduled appointment at the appropriate time.
- Set up new computer hardware and software
- Troubleshoot issues where remote technicians were unable to proceed.
- Identify recurring issues and initiate problem tickets for them.
- Make recommendations for improvements of supported hardware and software.
- Work with remote staff and 3rd party vendors as necessary to resolve issues.
- Escalate issues to a senior resource while remaining onsite if they unable to resolve it themselves.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up to date documentation through the change management process.
- Maintain accurate and up to date timesheets and expense reports.
- Attend training & team meetings as required.
- Participate in the on-call rotation (1 week every 3-4 months)
- Ability to work on weekends or after hours as needed.
Education Requirements, Skills, and Knowledge
- Completion of post-secondary education in computer science, computer information systems, networking, or systems analysis, supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience. Equivalencies will be considered.
- Microsoft MCSE, MCSA, or MCTIP (in progress or completed)
- VMWare Experience or Certification
- Minimum two years relevant IT experience fully supporting and building SMB environments
