Pacifica owns and/or operates 38 properties in addition to a number of programs. The annual budget is approximately $21M and the total staff complement is around 160 employees.

The IT/Help Desk Assistant will assist the IT Manager with the day to day operation of Pacifica’s IT department.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting IT requirements of the organization, including:

  • Acting as a contact for Pacifica employees for general IT issues including network, computer, software, Internet, cell phone, VoiP phones and printers;
  • Liaising with the contracted IT providers to address issues as they arise or to revise services;
  • Managing internal e-mail distribution lists and e-mail accounts;
  • Receiving requests from staff for changes to hardware/software/configuration and delivering approved requests either by his/her own action or by tasking 3rd party resources;
  • Maintaining Pacifica Housing’s website;
  • Maintaining Pacifica Housing’s Moodle website;
  • Insuring server back-ups are completed on a scheduled basis (may involve evenings and weekends);
  • Managing keyless fob system;
  • Desktop hardware installation/moves (workstations, laptops, monitors, thin clients, printers);

Education:

  • Computer Systems/Technology Diploma, Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field an asset

Experience:

  • 1+ year(s) IT Service Desk or Help Desk Support related experience
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
  • Active Directory experience is an asset
  • VoiP administration experience is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a valid class 5 Driver License.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Criteria for Role:

  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector is required before employment commences.
