Job Description

The IT Operation Manager will oversee the IT team in Hamilton to ensure support and maintain high availability of AIM’s networks and the infrastructure for all Ontario sites. He will be responsible to coordinate projects involving third parties and to ensure the delivery of initiatives, implementation or troubleshooting in collaboration with the IT team in Montréal.

Reporting to the Montreal’s IT Operations Director, the IT Operations Manager in Hamilton will:

  • Manage IT support technicians and administrators located in Hamilton, which includes participation in recruitment, supervision, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions ;
  • Ensure presence and develop solid relationship with all Ontario sites;
  • Manage infrastructure and IT support for AIM’s Ontario sites;
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals;
  • Coordinate third parties in different projects and ensure the quality of the deliverables ;
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements;
  • Make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems under his responsibility with the collaboration of the Montreal IT teams ;
  • Participate in asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment:
  • Produce KPI and SLA reports and dashboard;
  • Keep current with the latest technologies;
  • Provide afterhours support in case of emergencies.

Operation management

Technical Support:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of KPI’s and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to establish problem resolution expectations and time frames;
  • Develop and enforce request handling and escalation policies and procedures;
  • Monitor incident trends and anticipate potential problems for proactive resolution.
  • Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) based on request trends and make recommendations.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols and standards in support of service desk technology procurement and development efforts.
  • Enforce ITIL good practices;
  • Ensure a high level of customer service .

Infrastructure

  • Installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the server and network infrastructure across all the Ontario sites
  • Managing data centers in a active/passive disaster recovery setup
  • Managing the corporate MPLS Network as well as remote VPN firewall sites.
  • Managing Microsoft cloud infrastructure (Azure, O365, Azure fabric)
  • Installing, configuring, maintaining our performance and monitoring systems
  • Creating and maintaining systems documentation
  • Managing a variety of databases (SQL and PostgreSQL)
  • Provide afterhours support in case of emergencies

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Bachelor degree in Information technology
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of virtualized infrastructures in a DR environment
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking such as LAN/WAN, MPLS, VPN, DHCP, DNS, etc
  • Experience with SAN/NAS Fiber channel networks
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet objectives and timelines
  • Certifications will be an advantage (Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft, etc)

Requirements

  • Bilingualism (Asset)
  • ITIL Certification (Asset)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel if required
