Job description: Under the supervision of the Director, Information Technology, the IT Project Manager analyzes internal and external client needs and plans, coordinates and implements information technology projects in accordance with the priorities set out in the Montreal Port Authority’s (MPA) corporate plan.
Participate in project design and planning:
- Analyze internal or external client needs and assist in selecting projects for approval.
- Determine the resources required to complete projects.
- Develop timelines and plan budgets.
- Assist in the tender process for executing work:
- Work with the procurement team to draft specifications.
- Assist in examining bids received and make recommendations on awarding contracts.
Ensure delivery of assigned projects:
- Coordinate and verify compliance of the activities of suppliers and MPA employees assigned to the project.
- Monitor work and inform managers of project progress.
- Ensure that projects:
- Follow their timeline and allocated budget
- Meet MPA quality standards
- Comply with MPA health and safety standards
- Approve deliverables upon completion of work and certify compliance on behalf of the MPA.
- Transfer knowledge to the technical support team.
- Coordinate the production of technical and support documentation and training activities in collaboration with the Human Resources department.
- Demonstrate agility and versatility in integrating innovative solutions into the business process.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emerging technologies and facilitate their integration to support the MPA innovation agenda.
Act as an expert:
- Assist in designing, writing, revising and approving the IT component of plans and specifications for projects carried out by other MPA branches or departments.
- Maintain expertise in technological developments through research, training, participation in user groups, advisory committees, conferences, etc.
- Assist the technical support team in resolving complex problems related to assigned projects.
Participate in the continuous improvement of processes related to this position and/or department, as required.
Perform all other related duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in project management.
- Project management certification, an asset.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience with 2 years in BI project management.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Good knowledge of emerging technologies, an asset.
- Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Fiber optics and telecommunication network architecture.
- Implementation of video surveillance systems.
- Standardization of physical security of the premises.
- Modelling of transactional and decision-making databases and object-oriented modelling methods.
- Knowledge of data analysis/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Training in PMI methods. Project management certification, an asset.
- Oral and written fluency in both French and English.
