NV-10As an IT solutions designer, you help ensure IT efficiency by analyzing, designing and updating programming algorithms (computer software and web applications) and IT tool architecture (software, networks, databases, etc.). You ensure consistency with the organization’s current and future needs and structure, while also ensuring that new components are compatible with the existing architecture (software applications, products, services, etc.).

You design detailed architecture, software and testing/implementation strategies for large-scale, innovative projects and initiatives. You analyze, develop and recommend functional, organic and technology solutions and priorities. The ability to work with technology, anticipate innovation and optimize work processes is therefore essential.

You advise clients and employees on integration and coordination matters, so the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a thorough understanding of needs is key. Your initiatives require extensive knowledge of your specialty area.

You are responsible for strategic projects and initiatives that are operationally and conceptually complex and require comprehensive analysis and understanding of the organization and line of business. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in many other fields.

You serve as specialist advisor and leader for your unit and decision-making bodies.
General Information on the Position
Two positions are available in three of our department’s squads.
Outdated Machine Squad
The Machine Squad’s mandate is to implement solutions to stabilize and migrate the 4,000 application components found on approximately 750 AIX (Power7/8/9) and Solaris (T4/T5/T6/T7) servers to 1,000 Red Hat Enterprise Linux (X86) servers to enhance the infrastructure.

Solutions must take into account technological changes in the operating systems, the new types of firewall protection and the new continuous delivery processes.

Major Projects Squad
This is a multidisciplinary squad of specialists in application architecture, security and technology infrastructures, development, quality assurance and operations.

The MPS squad aims, among other things, to ensure the sustainability of the following technologies, including the technological infrastructures on which they rely:

  • Database management systems (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Server operating systems (Windows Server)
  • Web application servers (WAS, WebLogic, JBoss)
  • MQ Client and Server
  • Lotus Notes/Domino

Additional responsability

  • Serve as technical leader in squads to ensure the squads’ target is met
  • Serve as a specialized advisor for projects, mandates and development activities pertaining to solution architecture, the scope and impact of which are significant and may be felt across Desjardins Group
  • Advise and assist specialists and business partners to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor technology solutions for the projects and initiatives under your responsibility, which includes strategic mandates
  • Develop and update policies, standards, or technology solutions, taking into account aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructures to support your unit’s strategic projects and initiatives
  • Identify and analyze major problems and issues. Establish diagnoses and make recommendations to the decision-making bodies and committees involved
  • Represent your unit in dealings with decision-making bodies and committees
  • Represent Desjardins’s position when making agreements with external partners and organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of a relevant experience
  • Experience in Agile or traditional development and at least one of the following programming languages: Java, .NET, C++
  • Experience in architecture documentation

  • For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of research tools (SharePoint, Confluence, Yammer, Google, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Office 365 and Visio (an asset)
  • Knowledge of AIX, Solaris and/or Windows Server (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Weblogic and Websphere (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Oracle and/or DB2 (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Java and .NET (an asset)

Independent speaker, upper intermediate knowledge of English.
