The Opportunity:
Minto is seeking a Technical Project Manager to fill a 6 month contract. This role will report to the Director of IT Operations and will be based in Ottawa, ON. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for assigned technical project deliverables completed on time and within budget. These deliverables include requirements gathering, planning and management of new technology deployments, system and platform upgrades and technical planning strategies. The successful candidate will work well independently with minimal supervision, able to meet deadlines and enjoy being part of a collaborative team.
What you’ll be responsible for day to day:
- Plan and oversee the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects
- Defines project scope, requirements and deliverables in collaboration with clients
- Determines resource and budget requirements, cost estimates, and timelines
- Monitor project delivery against timelines to ensures timely completion
- Represent the IT team in meetings with project clients and other project stakeholders as required
- Oversee activities of IT project teams and monitor project task completion
- Develop and maintain effective relationship with clients
- Manage client expectations, resolve issues, and ensure client satisfaction
- Coordinates internal and external resources to ensure client project deliverables are executed smoothly
- Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budgetary guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Who we’re looking for:
Education: A university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science, information science, PMI PMP certification or relevant courses required.
Experience: 5+ years’ experience managing infrastructure and network projects.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of MS Windows servers
- Knowledge of network protocols (i.e., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, HTTP, RDP, FTP, SIP, H323, SSH, multicast vs unicast)
- Knowledge of phone systems (Avaya preferably)
- Knowledge of Video Conferencing technologies
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities
- Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated, observant, and focused
- Professional, enthusiastic, and approachable
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage client priorities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate to achieve desired outcome
- ITIL knowledge is an asset
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
