We need our Inspectors to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. In this role you will: perform well defined and sometimes difficult inspection tasks, including monitoring quality control procedures. You will inspect various facets of work on the construction site and perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Our inspectors document nonconformance and may participate in discussions to determine appropriate resolution. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: soils, concrete, mechanical, or electrical. Willingness to travel and/or to relocate to field sites is expected.
Responsibilities:
- Performs civil and structural inspections on various municipal and provincial construction projects.
- Performs surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade. Inspects and monitors piling installation to ensure location and bearing. Validates piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
- Performs continuing inspection of painting and insulation to ensure thickness and coverage continuity.
- Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
- Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations. May participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
- May participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline to be certified or eligible for certification by OACETT for the RCJI designation or;
- Engineers-in-Training, registered with the PEO, with the appropriate related work experience; or
- Engineering Student who will be completing their final year as an undergraduate engineering student and/or a college civil engineering technician or technology student.
