Position Summary
An exciting opportunity exists in our Information Technology Department in Fort Saskatchewan for Lead, IT Operations & Cloud Services.
Reporting to the Manager, Global IT Operations & Cloud Services, this position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining solutions that comprise the IT operating environment of Sherritt across all divisions. This includes the established IT systems, security services, network systems, infrastructure devices and commissioning new ones as required.
Accountabilities
- Support and maintain the Global operations, networks and security assets as required. This includes all on premise and cloud server, network, and security infrastructure.
- Provide occasional support and training to Fort Saskatchewan executives.
- Assist in escalation and resolution for Fort Saskatchewan end-user identified issues and requests.
- Maintain accurate IT equipment inventory in ServiceNow.
- As part of our operational procedures, define and prepare all change required for the production systems and present them for review in the standing change advisor board meetings.
- Ensure smooth project transitions into operations by completing and delivering operational documentation and perform training for identified support groups as required by the project requirements.
- Provide support for the Business Solutions and Service Desk and manage escalations as required to minimize service disruption to the customers.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for operational systems including networks, security, compute, storage, systems, backups and restore, virtualization, cloud services administration, disaster recovery planning and implementation, systems compliance, and patching.
- Proactively monitor and maintain reliable and highly available IT infrastructure services, including virtualization, storage, local/wide area/wireless networks, backup and recovery systems, and voice systems
- Ensure that data protection compliance is met with regular backup operations, as well as perform regular restore activities to validate the reliability of the IT operational systems.
- Actively participate in annual IT Operations strategic planning sessions and collaborating towards defining the team’s plan
- Maintain all technical documentation of all operational systems ensuring that regular reviews and updates are performed on a frequent basis.
- Actively support the continuous improvement of the IT operating environment and provide input on opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Enforce, review and audit proper access controls periodically against all company data.
- Comply to IT operational policies and procedures as it pertains to day-to-day operations.
- Participate and provide all required artifact requests during annual internal and external audit reviews.
- Work collaboratively with Services and Business Solutions teams to meet or exceed IT departmental goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of related experience in security, server infrastructure, network support and end user service delivery
- Sound knowledge of current network protocols, and standards.
- Skill set to run and maintain scripting such as PowerShell.
- Experience of ticketing solutions such as ServiceNow
- Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting skills
- Excellent configuration and processes documentation skills
- Written and oral communication skills to interact with a range of stakeholders.
- Great time management skills with strong customer focus skills
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Sound knowledge of cloud networking
- Sound knowledge of Azure infrastructure management
- Sound knowledge of Cyber security management
- Hands on experience of VMWare and Nutanix
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, file services, DHCP, Office 365 and Azure
- Hands on experience of Veeam backup & replication
- Sound knowledge of current cloud technologies
- Change management experience.
