We’re looking for a Lead, Software Development (Salesforce) to join our team in Burnaby, BC.
The Opportunity:
The Lead, Software Development is responsible for leading a team of software developers in the analysis, development and ongoing support of key internal software systems at Ritchie Bros. with a specific focus on Salesforce and its related ecosystem. The Lead will work closely with the software developers under their direction as well as other team members such as QA, Business Systems Analysts, System Integrators(DevOps), Solutions Architects and Business Users to deliver high quality software and ensure that systems are operating correctly once deployed. The lead will also use their knowledge of the IT Platforms to help guide the solution and implementation of key features on the platform. The lead is also responsible for ensuring that teams are working in an efficient and effective manner and making changes to process and procedures when appropriate to address issues identified.
In this role you’ll:
Deliver high quality software efficiently
Provide technical oversight and strategy
Provide employee performance management
Write high quality, testable and easily maintainable code in a variety of languages (APEX/SOQL, Java, SQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS)
Perform code reviews and provide feedback to other development team members
Anticipate, plan and perform systems maintenance tasks
Mentor team members in technical and non-technical aspects of software development including people management and performance reviews
Assist Product Owners in turning high-level business requirements into technical tasks and lead estimation with technical teams as well as ensure a high level of communication throughout development lifecycle with external stakeholders
Assist with Project planning by providing accurate and timely estimation, updates and participating in cross team coordination and planning
Manage FTE team members through regular goal setting, annual reviews, 1 on 1 meetings and ongoing performance management and coaching
Manage contractors via 1 on 1, feedback, interviews and hiring (onboarding and offboarding)
Work with all internal technical stakeholders (QA, System Integrators, System Analysts, Solutions Architects) to ensure product quality and reliability in production environments
Development practice management
Manage Software Development activities of multiple sprint teams in an Agile workflow with Scrum, backlog grooming, retrospectives
Bridge communication gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders either in writing or in person
Stay up to date on technical functionality, new releases and features that are both part of the platform and larger ecosystem. Able to identify opportunities to leverage those technologies for the betterment of software products and the Ritchie Bros. business
Work regular business hours onsite in Burnaby, BC
Some on-call after hours support may be required and must be available for critical production support incidents
Lifting moderately weighted computer equipment and peripherals from time to time

Here’s what you bring:
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline
7+ years developing software in a variety of environments with a focus on Salesforce
3+ years of experience managing or leading software developers and vendors
Experience in an Agile Environment
Minimum 3+ years of specific development experience.
