The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides psychiatric nursing care to in-patients who experience addiction and mental health challenges. The LPN provides competent care utilizing theory-driven, research-based nursing knowledge, along with specialized addiction and mental health nursing skills and abilities to form therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Computer skills using AHS computer applications/programs would be an asset (e.g. Netcare, Medworxx, Outlook, Connect Care). English language skills, both written and verbal required. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience on an Acute Care Addiction and Mental Health unit preferred.
