Responsibilities

The successful candidate practices within the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN). The Job duties are outlined in the job description.

Qualifications

  • Licensed in the Province of Nova Scotia with Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
  • Successfully completed Pharmacology Course
  • Current CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Back Care Program or willingness to obtain
  • Current CPI Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Commitment to the philosophy of family centred care
  • Commitment to care planning/discharge planning
  • Adaptable to change and is flexible to accommodate the expectations of the position
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuous professional development
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position
  • Good work and attendance record
  • Geriatric/Rehab nursing experience an asset
  • Medical Surgical nursing experience an asset
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSHA patients and clients
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSHA
  • The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values of the Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to Human Resources before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours of Work

Permanent Part Time (50%) Position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

Salary Information

Licensed Practical Nurse

$28.33 – $30.42
