On behalf of our client, Gladstone Transfer Ltd., we are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager will be responsible to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the dispatch process and will play a key role in the organization. They will work closely with the Driver Services Reps, the Operations Manager and the Maintenance department to ensure efficiencies are being met while also providing effective, hands on solutions for the organization. The successful candidate will be successful in ensuring logistical strategies are executed to optimize drivers while internal and external clients and relationships are prioritized.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for:

  • Building effective, hands-on working relationships with customers and providing industry leading service through the delivery of timely and accurate information, viable shipping options, and professional negotiation of prices.
  • Responding to customers’ inquiries, proactively contacting customers, maintaining constant communication through support or sales calls, and successfully arranging and booking customer loads/ deliveries.
  • Building efficient rates to promote profitability while supporting and maintaining the quality of life for the driver fleet.
  • Planning and outlining workload distribution; ensure completion using proper daily, seven, and fourteen day planning and forecasting. Important to master existing routes and build newer and better routes for maximum efficiency and profit.
  • Forecasting upcoming volumes, providing financial analysis, and preparing weekly reports to Ops Manger.
  • Communicating continuously with delivery drivers through the Order Management System (OMS), or by calling them directly.
  • Overseeing driver schedules and ensuring the maximization of capacity and resources in order to achieve on-time service to our customers.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating arrangements for back hauls
  • Tracking and reporting of key performance indicators (KPI); such as revenue per mile and weekly target management. Accountable for results and presenting solutions when targets are not reached.
  • Working closely with sales department to develop new business strategies and explore new opportunities; liaise with coworkers to develop new concepts and initiatives to improve performance and ensure continuous improvements and cost reductions.
  • Meeting with Ops Manager, Fleet Manager and CEO to discuss operations, equipment assignments, customer issues and potential concerns.
  • Reporting on driver performance; identifying and analyzing issues, creating solutions and necessary changes to SOP’s and policies.
  • Ensuring effective and timely communication across the teams, stakeholders and customers
  • Mentoring and planning with Driver Service Rep (DSR); collaboratively sending out dispatch and communicating daily with customers and drivers.

About you and your experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a logistics, fulfillment and/or dispatch role.
  • Familiar with industry specific operating procedures; such as highway traffic act, hours of service, dangerous goods transportation, and weight restrictions.
  • Strong knowledge of Western Canada, geography and proficient with Google Maps.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with OMS is a major asset.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment with a high volume of calls; adapting to constant change and operating with a solutions focused approach.
  • Detail oriented and displays exceptional communication skills, written and oral.
  • Proven supervisory skills and displays resiliency and tenacity.
  • Team oriented approach to problem resolution.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, overtime may be required.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
