The Role

We are currently looking for a full time Senior Maintenance Leader in our Oshawa Assembly/OEM facility. In this role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for upholding GM’s purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all its employees. You will develop and supervise business plan objectives by leading safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost and environment. In order to achieve these objectives, you will work with UNIFOR and Plant floor managers from all departments to empower, train and lead your employee efficiency while driving continuous improvements throughout. You will have Supervisory responsibility over a group of Salaried and Hourly employees engaged in plant production operations, including Electricians and IMMs. Work involves the coordination of a number of operations involving the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and policies. Work is performed under general supervision, while exercising a high level of independent judgment.

Responsibilities

Supervise trades and assist them in achieving business objectives

Supervise salary maintenance group leaders

Coordinate labor relations as required

Implement strict alignment to safety policies and laws

Lead workforce to maintain efficiency and all cost objectives

Coordinate maintenance, tooling and engineering schedule demand in area of responsibility

Support ongoing Thru-put initiatives through Maximo PM completion and process improvements

Adopt Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles as they apply to maintenance organizations

Lead activities during major equipment breakdowns

Run and coordinate major breakdowns

Provide mentorship and coordination for Maintenance downtime planning

Represent Maintenance at TIP process meetings as required

Champion GMS activities for Maintenance group

Additional Job Description

Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Proven knowledge of collective agreement

High level of interpersonal skills to empower employees in a structured environment

Working knowledge of Welding, Sealing and Conveyance applications

Ability to work shifts and extended hours, including weekends

Knowledge of Devicenet, Ethernet, PLCs, power and free conveyance and robotics

Understanding of Control systems

University Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field

Maintenance experience (preferably 5+ years) working in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing process

Working knowledge of Collective Agreement interpretation and familiarity with employment legislation

Successful candidates will be required to attest to, and be prepared to provide proof of, their vaccination status and that any job offer will be conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated
