The Maintenance Planner role provides a great opportunity to see and be part of all aspects of the business; budgets, staffing, production, maintenance, planning, change management and working with people in other departments. Time management, working independently without a lot of supervision, and organizational skills are a must to focus on and prioritize what needs to be done first. Good interpersonal skills are helpful when working with different people across the Plant and the Corporation on projects, and ultimately cascading down to the rest of your organization as required. As the Maintenance Planner, you are representing the department you are working in at all levels of the organization and can be very rewarding. Some of the main responsibilities are bridging the gap between maintenance and engineering. In this position, you are responsible for ensuring that all equipment in the department is functioning properly and up to expectation standards. As issues occur, you will work with various resource groups (Engineering, Group leaders, and Trades) to determine root causes, adjust maintenance schedules and / or come up with new designs. You will not only deal with the equipment side of planning, but the people side as well. Training, both compliance and technical, is scheduled based off need and requirements. Group Leader business boards are updated and tailed to suit the business. Keeping personnel up to date on the status and performance of the department, tracking and feeding back information so that action can be taken to meet the department/plant/corporation objectives as well as managing the change process during build events in the Department.
Additional Job Description
In this role, you will oversee a small to medium group of salaried maintenance Group Leaders. Leads the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities aligned with standard GM maintenance systems. You will conduct appropriate checks and tests and communicates evaluation of results. Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions, Recommends solutions to problems, and meets schedule and quality requirements in addition to the following responsibilities.
Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Implements divisional and corporate policies
Implements safety and good housekeeping practices
Frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
Participates in the selection of new employees
Trains, develops and evaluates employees
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Leads technical guidance for complex and unusual plant operations or projects
Assists in the development of budgets and forecasts within assigned area
Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes
Understood and effective use of Global Manufacturing System
Subject matter expert for elements of Global Workplace Safety System
Review weekend planning and assign manpower as required
Work Orders: gather and organize all required work orders for the weekend, review and process completed work orders
Distribute email to Assembly Maintenance and Engineering team and host meeting to discuss upcoming weekend work and major projects
Support line operations when required (major breakdowns, GL coverage)
Monitor performance and prioritize work to ensure timely completion of priority items. Discuss any open issues on equipment with Group Leaders and Team Leaders
Process all upcoming preventative maintenance items through MAXIMO
Plan for Change Lead for Maintenance (Productivity, Station re-arrangements, Product Changes, Model Year changes, PCP/TEB updates, etc.)
Ensure all parts are available and ready for weekend/opportune work
Review breakdowns with Group Leaders, Maintenance Associates, and engineering to develop action plans
Time and Attendance: update Overtime Equalization tracking sheet, update Leave of Absence tracking sheet, vacation planning, post and review Overtime Offerings Signup Sheet
Schedule compliance training for hourly and salary employees
Perform General Duties as Requested by Shift Leader/Area Manager
REQUIREMENTS
All Required Safety Training under GWSS
All required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Training
Experience with Time and Attendance and Manpower Planning
Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement
Labour Relations Training
Previous plant floor experience in either a supervisory or engineering role
Experience in a unionized environment
Experience in plant floor systems
Experience in SAP
Experience in Engineering Change processes: TWO/EWO/PFC/PCP/TEB/PFMEA etc.
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Education
Degree / diploma / trade ticket or equivalent maintenance / industrial experience
