Job description: Reporting to the General Manager, Communications and Education the Manager, Education is responsible for managing the LSRCA education program portfolio to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.

What you offer:

  • A 4 year university bachelor’s degree in environmental studies/sciences or recreational programming.
  • A Certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers
  • 7 years progressive classroom, community and/or outdoor teaching experience including lesson planning and sound understanding of safety/risk management requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience, including hiring and performance management.
  • Experience interacting with clients, stakeholders, senior staff and elected officials in education-related circumstances.
  • Continuous knowledge of current trends in formal and public education and engagement.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Strong time management, budget management and project management; sound judgment, problem solving and decision making skills are required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have First Aid certification and a valid G class driver’s license.
  • Employment is conditional upon receipt of a positive Vulnerable Sector Screening (police check).
  • Some evening and weekend work is required.
  • Occupational Health and Safety is a major focus of this position.

What you will do:

  • As the subject matter lead in education, provide strong guidance to, and management of, the development of LSRCA’s Education Program.
  • Develop work plans to achieve LSRCA’s strategic goals and targets for education.
  • Develop new curriculum-based education/instructional modules and aids.
  • Establish, maintain and develop strong working relationships and new collaborations with LSRCA educational and community program partners, including watershed municipalities.
  • Manage and supervise LSRCA education service delivery including:

-Outdoor education at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area

-Outreach education in watershed schools

-Outreach education in the community

-Outdoor Summer Camp at Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area

-New services as may be introduced

  • Manage priority projects and funding proposals
  • Deliver programming as scheduled and/or required.
  • Develop and supervise a strong education team.
  • Coordinate business management activities associated with education priorities including budgets, invoicing, pricing, sales targets, program bookings and program reporting.
  • Ensure all physical education venues are maintained, including procurement of annual janitorial, pest control, etc. services.
  • Ensure safe working environments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Start Date: Immediate
