Job description: Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) is seeking to recruit an experienced Manager, Finance and Accounting to join our award-winning team. The Manager, Finance and Accounting leads and manages all aspects of the VAA’s financial management operations and services including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, analysis, controls, risk management, banking, investments, taxation, contracts, reporting and regulatory compliance. The Manager is relied upon as a key member of the management team to ensure VAA’s financial operations comply with professional accounting standards, meet operational requirements, and fulfil regulatory requirements. The Manager ensures the executive and management teams have the timely and accurate financial analysis and reports they need to oversee their operations and make informed decisions. The Manager also contributes to the development and implementation of strategic organization-wide plans, projects, initiatives, and events, and leads a multi-disciplinary team of employees. This position is excluded from the bargaining unit and reports directly to the CFO. This is a full-time position (M-F) with an occasional requirement to work outside a normal work schedule to meet operational requirements. Education & Experience
The ideal candidate will have a CPA and a minimum of three years recent related experience leading and managing all aspects of financial management including: planning (e.g., budgeting and forecasting), reporting and regulatory compliance for an organization of similar scope and complexity and supervising employees in a union environment. Knowledge of professional accounting standards (GAAP), policies and procedure requirements. Experience with Sage 300 is an asset. Experience leading and managing short- and medium-term business and operation planning to ensure financial systems, services and information assets are responsive to operational realities, resilient to emerging threats and anticipate VAA’s future operational requirements. The ability to consult, engage, develop and manage productive working relationships with a wide network of internal/external clients, departments, partners, service providers and others (e.g., Auditors) is key, as is contributing to the enhancement of the positive corporate culture within VAA, and the reputation of VAA within the community, sector and industry.
As a condition of employment, all VAA employees must obtain and maintain enhanced Airport security clearance (RAIC)*. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
