The Opportunity:

The Manager, Finance Decision Support – FCC, reporting to the VP Finance and CFO – FCC, requires an individual with strong analytical, interpersonal and influencing skills. The Manager, Finance Decision Support – FCC is responsible for comprehensive financial analysis and analytics to help drive business decisions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent relationship building skills and an interest in professional and personal development. This position will lead a small team of Financial Analysts and have regular interface with other members of the FCC Leadership team.

What You Will Do:

Financial Analysis and Decision Support

  • Leads financial and business analysis in support of strategic decision making at the departmental level (HR, PMO etc) and overall Corporate level
  • Demonstrates personal ownership and accountability for delivering on commitments.
  • Prepares and delivers accurate data analysis. Reports decision alternatives to management on the basis of thorough knowledge of item under review and related data.
  • Develops and/or updates standard to complex financial models incorporating supporting metrics to support recommendations made.
  • Works cooperatively with teams across the organization to build effective business relationships to obtain necessary input data and identification of alternatives.

Supports Sales Team and Pricing Committee

  • Acts as advisor to the Sales team
  • Provides financial analysis on proposals and contracts to new and existing clients
  • Performs profitability analysis on existing clients
  • Supports overall client pricing models including development of presentations for opportunities that require internal escalation
  • Develops and produces financial analysis on new products and services
  • Advises management on financial implications of proposals
  • Able to communicate key drivers, financial impacts and recommendations
  • Evaluates successfulness of new products and services after launch

People Management

  • Engage employees in establishing clear and measurable goals that achieve business results
  • Provide coaching and give feedback to employees in order to meet business objectives and enhance individual performance
  • Ensure managers and their employees understand the values, policies and procedures of Fidelity and their business unit
  • Ensure team receives the training on the skills and knowledge to proficiently perform the role. Understand and demonstrate regulatory and risk supervisory obligations as appropriate to your role
  • Acts as a coach and mentor within Finance
  • Supports collaboration and partnership across Finance and the business
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

  • More than 5 years of relevant experience in finance department within the financial services industry
  • University degree with a business focus (Accounting, Economics, Commerce preferred) or relevant working experience
  • Experience in financial analysis and modelling
  • Experience in managing people
  • Completion of CPA (CA, CMA, CGA), CFA or other relevant professional designations is strongly preferred
  • Brokerage business experience is preferred
  • Canadian Securities Course or IFIC certificate is an asset

  • Communicate comfortably and clearly with peers, clients and management in both formal and informal settings
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complicated analytical / statistical concepts into business terminology (both verbally and in writing)
  • Develop good relationships with business partners to build communication channels
  • Advanced MS Excel reporting techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of data warehouse tools (i.e., Business Objects, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence applications (i.e. Business Objects, etc.)
  • Experience with applying various models to help solve practical business problems
