POSITION ROLE
The Manager of Accounting & Finance is responsible for a variety of finances and accounting duties to support two growing Toronto-based companies: Impact Kitchen and Mineral Cafe & Bar. With a focus on analyzing and maintaining both organization’s financial records, the successful candidate will prepare financial statements, prepare tax filings, provide analysis to guide financial decisions, and provide accounting support to ensure financial integrity.
Reports to: Head of Operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee in-house Bookkeepers (1 to 2) with plans to grow team
- Complete balance sheet working papers
- Gather financial data and ledgers
- Prepare and analyze periodic financial statements
- Oversee accounting procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate governance
- Prepare budgets and monitor expenditures
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory filings
- Analyze finances to determine risks and create forecasts to support business decision-making
- Review and process bi-weekly payroll runs via Payroll Provider (ADP)
- Implement systems, technology and standardization
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and practices with experience in hospitality Experience in preparing corporate tax returns, HST returns and payroll related filing Experienced in preparing consolidated, multi-company financial statements
- In-depth experience in risk analysis, budgeting and forecasting
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and finance software (QuickBooks Online)
- An analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Keen eye for detail
- Organizational and leadership skills
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
- Must have valid work permit to work in Canada
