The Material Planner/Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the management and coordination of activities of workers concerned with ordering, inbound transportation and receiving reporting of all PPAP approved direct material vendors.

The following is a more detailed list of the Material Planner/Logistics coordinator’s responsibilities.

  • Develops and maintains a system to evaluate vendor delivery performance.
  • Establishes and maintains operational procedures for verification of receiving reporting and the ordering process through Vendor EDI.
  • Generate and send vendor releases in ERP system
  • Expedite orders and releases, including arranging outside processing and any re-schedules as required.
  • Run report weekly showing open order status for all purchased parts.
  • Coordinate all Production Canadian, U.S and International vendor freight to support on time deliveries as well as arrange all air/ocean shipments that may be required.
  • Ensure customs clearance for border crossings and obtain Canada Customs invoice from supplier, advising the customs broker of port of entry
  • Review and account freight & brokerage invoices for outgoing and incoming freight.
  • Source freight companies for the most reliable and least expensive rates for incoming/ outgoing freight.
  • Recommends measures to improve methods and quality of service.
  • Schedule vendor shipments to support on time delivery.
  • Obtain monthly inventory reports from outside processors
  • Assist in the receiving department, entering receipts, review and resolve issues with other departments
  • Work with scheduling and releasing on daily issues
  • Ensure that all supplier NAFTA certificates are current and updated yearly.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions to increase efficiency of the department or work crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Ensure that all company policies are maintained.
  • Meet budgetary spending targets for the departmental cost centre.
  • Ensure that quality standards are communicated and enforced within the department.
  • Ensure that safety standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.
  • Ensure that environmental standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within the department.

  • Ensure that all environmental requirements are identified and addressed when performing duties.
  • Ensure that all safety requirements are being carried out when performing duties.
  • Comply with defined Business Management and Environmental Management Systems requirements.
  • Provide support for the continuous improvement initiatives within Techform.
  • Provide support in the attainment of Techform’s operating system goals as outlined by the key graphs.
  • Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

  • Magna Level 1 Trade Compliance certified
  • CPIM-Certified in Production & Inventory Management will be an asset
  • A post-secondary education in a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or purchasing environment
  • IATF certified will be an asset
