Job description: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP PROJECT STUDENT
The Opportunity:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for Mechanical and Civil Engineering Co-op Students interested in gaining project engineering work experience.
As a valued member of the projects team, you will get the opportunity to work as an active team member that follows mill project management procedures and solve engineering problems through the planning, instillation, and commissioning of capital projects. No matter what phase you enter the project on you will gain hands on experience as you focus on a wide variety of tasks.
Depending on the project phase, examples of responsibilities you will have the ability to perform are:
- Development of project concepts and preliminary design
- Participate in scope development, drawing and document management and drawing review
- Development of documentation to go for quotation, gathering quotes and preparation of tables to compare data
- Requisitioning of materials and services
- Complete site safety inspections and work with contractors
- Work with software such as: Auto Cad, PowerPoint, Excel, and other Document Management Software
Other exciting opportunities that may be presented in the project team is the chance to have ownership over clearly defined scopes including communicating with stakeholders, development of project funding applicants, sourcing contractors and follow through on project instillation.

You Have:
- Education Required: Currently enrolled in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering university program and in good academic standing
- Ability to work in a team environment involving engineering consultants, equipment suppliers, unionized contractors, and mill personnel to ensure projects are completed in a cost effective, timely, safe, and quality manner.
- Ability to work safely both in the office and on mill construction sites
- Very good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- High energy level with thorough attention to details
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Physically capable of climbing ladders and staging
