Position Summary
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Lab are seeking positive, energetic and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA) who want to be a part of their high functioning team! This is a permanent part-time position. Days of work are rotating and shift times are days and evenings.

MLA’s perform a variety of duties within the hospital, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests and operating related equipment, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories and receiving specimen from Labs within the region. MLA’s also enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and perform related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

Situated in Trail, KBRH is a 75 bed hospital that provides hospital services to residents of the Kootenay Boundary Health Service Area. Services include 24-hour emergency services, intensive care, general surgery, obstetrics, renal, psychiatry as well as inpatient and outpatient Lab services.

Qualifications
Grade 12
Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Driver’s License
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 24mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
