This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Aide to join the Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency Mental Health Team. Reporting to the Care Manager and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse/Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Aide performs activities to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with patient care plans and hospital policies and procedures. Description:

As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work in face paced environment. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in working with Mental Health patients in a hospital setting is preferred. Personal Support Aide Certificate, Mental Health Aide, or Nursing Aide equivalent preferred.
