The Adult Community Services 108St Clinic is recruiting a full-time (1.0FTE) Mental Health Therapist (MHT). Reporting to the Care Manager, the MHT works within an interdisciplinary team and provides both individual and or group treatment to assigned clients. The MHT engages in client assessment, treatment and evaluation and contributes to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. The program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care including a focus on client centered care, collaboration between the care team and client, care that is trauma informed, concurrent addiction and mental health capable and recovery oriented. The MHT documents all service using an electronic medical record (Connect Care).
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Registered Provisional Psychologist with an AHS internal supervisor; external supervisor may be considered. Full registration as a Registered Psychologist with CAP within three years from the date of hire. When AHS provides the supervised practice, a return for service agreement is required. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with: a) A related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, b) Considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Current certification in Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with providing individual and group psychotherapy using an evidenced based modality. Knowledge and experience with substance use disorders and/or process addictions preferred.
