Job title: Mental Health Therapist Provincial

Job description: Your Opportunity:

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Mental Health Therapist provides assessment, treatment and consultation to children, youth, and their family members who are experiencing difficulties associated with child abuse. This position is part of the Trauma Treatment Service (TTS), a mental health service provided in partnership with the Zebra Child Protection Centre. Zebra Centre and its partner agencies (EPS, RCMP, AHS Child and Adolescent Protection Centre, and Children’s Services) support child and youth victims of crime through the investigative and justice process by decreasing system-induced trauma. More information about the children’s advocacy centre can be found at Zebra Centre. The key responsibilities for this position include providing comprehensive clinical assessment and treatment of children and non-offending caregivers where child abuse has been an identified issue; providing support, consultation and recommendations to investigative teams as requested; and consulting and collaborating with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, community partners, and other providers in the child-serving sector to address opportunities and gaps in services for this population. Other responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices and evidence-based treatment for trauma and participating in regular clinical supervision, multidisciplinary team meetings, and administrative and evaluation activities. This position is currently based out of the Rutherford Mental Health Centre.
