Our client is seeking for a seasoned Mill Controls Engineer who will report to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible to:
Responsibilities:
Develop predictive tools, modify maintenance practices, reviews of the outputs from predictive and preventative maintenance tasks, and implements design changes to increase reliability
Improve and optimize preventative maintenance program based on best practices
Use sound engineering principles and prepare technical solutions to Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls problems, assist EI technicians in day to day troubleshooting activities
Develop positive working relationship with maintenance and operations to diagnose machine conditions, analyze failures, and plan appropriate corrective actions. Consult with outside specialist when necessary
Regularly assess quality of completion of work orders and address deficiencies
Specify new preventive and predictive maintenance practices to improve uptime and reduce cost
Monitor Work Management processes to ensure compliance to PM requirements; especially PM routine compliance * Support Asset Life Cycle Management and Cost Modelling feeding into long term and business planning
- Identify Electrical/Instrumentation issues/defects and improvement opportunities by analysing equipment performance, process delays, costs, KPI’s, and maintenance history
Supervise and participate in the skilled diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of equipment
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and be registered, or eligible for registration, with PEGNL
5-10 years of work experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment; work experience in the Pulp and Paper industry would be an asset
Experience working with low, medium, and high voltage motor control and distribution, including protection devices and coordination
Experience with DC, synchronous, induction motor management (6000hp and below)
Power distribution knowledge (Up to 30MVA)
Digital and analog control systems
Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Thorough understanding of maintenance processes, methods and techniques as they apply in an industrial setting,
Competent in Root Cause Failure Analysis
Good understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (FMEA) and Asset Management practices

Strong management, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Office, CMMS, etc.)
The Successful candidate must be able to work evening and weekends when required
