Length: 1 Month contract with a strong possibility of extension
Location: Canada (Remote – EST)
Working hours: Part Time Hours ranging from 15 to 30 hours weekly
Equipment: Must have own equipment

Requirements:
ROLE MANDATE:
Moodle Administrator to assist with onboarding new Moodle clients and improving efficiency of our Moodle shared platform. This position will report to the IT Services Coordinator and work with both our IT Service and EdTech Platform Service teams.
Our client is committed to providing free support services to students in rural and remote communities across Ontario. Our client’s EdTech Platform Service offers free access and training to education and training providers on a range of educational technology (EdTech), including free access to Moodle LMS.
We are looking for a Moodle Administrator to assist us with onboarding new Moodle clients and improving efficiency of our Moodle shared platform.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES (including but are not limited to):
Working closely with IT team and the Director EdTech Platform Service to:
Prepare, configure, and migrate Moodle for a new client; migrate data from existing Moodle 3.11 to Moodle 4.x.
Work with partner’s IT to implement SSO and integrate with institution’s SIS
Plan upgrade of additional Moodle instances to 4.x
Support migration of existing Moodle instances from cloud server to Azure
Manage multiple instances of Moodle on multiple servers; look for more efficient ways of managing multi-tenancy
Employ strategies to ensure reliability and performance of all Moodle instances and high level of service to users and stakeholders
Make recommendations on changes and alternative open-source solutions to current and prospective clients
Ensure documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to Tier 2 IT staff
Design and create various statistical reports on usage and content for given periods for statistical reporting
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in information technology, computer science, networking and internetworking, electronics, and/or telecommunications is required
3 to 5 years of experience with administration, development and customization of a Learning Management System (LMS) in an enterprise environment, direct experience as a Moodle administrator
Advanced knowledge of open-source Linux operating systems, database management (MariaDB, PostgreSQL), Azure, virtual servers, load balancers (HAProxy, Traefik), Docker, and Docker Images (experience using Docker with Kubernetes would be an asset)
Experience migrating Moodle between servers and different types of networks
Leadership and project management skills and experience
Highly developed analytical, problem solving, organizational and verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and diplomacy through contact with educational institutions, instructors, faculty, and students
