This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and June 30, 2021.
Program offerings and capacities may be reduced due the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 and implementation of necessary restrictions. Job specific duties may also be modified to comply with health and safety protocols.
Job Responsibilities
- Conducting a variety of tours, educational programs, and craft workshops for children and adults using diverse and creative teaching methods, techniques, and tools.
- Preparation and delivery of history based education programs, guided tours, outreach and special education events
- Interpret for visitors during special events through demonstrations and activities
- Assistance with delivery of public programming and special events as well as the administrative functions of education programming
- Delivery of exceptional customer service (including welcoming, conduct and communication) to all participants
- Support and promote the Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD)
- Performing physical daily program set up and clean-up as required
- Ensure the safety of education program participants, visitors and staff as well as protection of on-site resources
- Performing physical daily program set up and clean up as well as assistance with building and site cleaning and program maintenance for program areas.
Qualifications:
- Graduate or current student of education, history, child studies, drama/arts, recreation or museum studies program
- Experience in the museum sector an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong organizational abilities
- Ability to operate with a minimum of direct supervision
- Good working knowledge of the Ontario curriculum
- Experience working with children an asset
- High Five PHCD (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification would be considered an asset
- Valid first aid and CPR certificates required
- Access to reliable transportation
